Black Diamond 03-07 Ford 6.0 Powerstroke Basic Head Gasket Kit
This is the most basic head gasket kit we offer for the 6.0 Powerstroke engines. If the rest of your gaskets are in good shape and you just need to remove the heads to replace the gaskets, this is the best choice for you. We highly recommend replacing the factory head bolts when doing this job. The factory head bolts are only suppose to be torqued once. From the options above you can add a new set of factory style head bolts or you can upgrade to ARP Head Studs. We recommend upgrading to the ARP head studs to provide a higher clamp load on the head.
It is recommended to always have your heads surfaced by a machine shop be reinstalling to ensure you have a true, flat surface. If the heads are warped, the new gaskets will fail prematurely.

Options:
Head Gasket Dowel Size:
The 03-05 engines all had 18MM head dowels. From January of 2006 on, all 6.0 engines had 20MM head dowels. If you have a 2006 engine please check engine build date or remove heads first to ensure you order the proper size dowel and gasket for your engine. If you happen to order the wrong size we will gladly exchange the gaskets for the proper size later.
Head Bolts or Head Studs:
We strongly recommend replacing the factory head bolts when doing a head gasket job. At the very least replace them with factory style head bolts. For the very best job, select the ARP Head Stud kit. The ARP Head Studs are much stronger and help keep the heads from lifting under pressure and stress.
Upper Engine Gasket Kit:
Included in this kit are intake manifold gaskets, injector orings, turbo gaskets, egr cooler gaskets, and a few other small orings. We recommend including this kit if you haven't had your engine apart recently. This will give you all the upper gaskets you would need to put the engine back together.
EGR Cooler Options:
If you would like to keep the egr system intact, we suggest adding one of our upgraded egr coolers. They have a tube style center section that will not rupture like the factory fin style coolers. The early 03-03 trucks have a round cooler and the later 04-07 trucks have a square cooler. Please check your cooler style before ordering.
Oil Cooler Kit:
It is a really good idea to replace the oil cooler at the same time you are doing head gaskets if it has never been replaced. Besides saving you a bunch of labor because you have removed everything above the oil cooler housing to do a head gasket job, the oil cooler will plug up over time and need replaced anyways. This is a great time to do it. We offer both the Black Diamond oil cooler and the Ford OEM. We have found the Black Diamond oil coolers to run cooler than the Ford OEM ones, but offer both since some customer like to use the OEM part.
Exhaust Manifold Gaskets:
The 6.0 Powerstroke engine did not come from the factory with exhaust manifold gaskets. They had a metal to metal connection. After you remove the exhaust manifolds they will sometimes be slightly warped and will not seal up correctly when reinstalling. We suggest adding the exhaust manifold gaskets into your kit to prevent this issue.
